History
The Revista de Protección Vegetal (Rev. Proteccion Veg.) was founded in 1986 as a printed journal with three issues per year and is published by the National Center for Agricultural Health (CENSA). Initially, the Director was Dr. Lydia Margarita Tablada Romero, Director General of the center, and the Secretary was Lic. Belarmino Diez Castillo, who served as Editor. During this period, the journal received papers related to Histology, Pathophysiology, Virology, Bacteriology, Mycology, Nematology, Acarology, Entomology, Toxicology, and Control (chemical, biological, or integrated). These papers were submitted by national and international specialists and are currently published in full in Spanish or English, with abstracts in both languages. Over time, the editors, at different times, were Eng. Lázaro Planas and Dr. Simón Perez, Dr. Hector Rodriguez Morell, and Dr. Belkis Peteira Delgado-Oramas. The journal has been published uninterruptedly since its founding, and since 2005, in addition to the print version, it has also been published on Compact Disc (CD) that was distributed at institutions and events. In 2007, it was included in the SCIELO collection and became exclusively electronic, maintaining a volume with three issues annually. In 2020-2021, the number of topics related to Plant Health that can be covered in articles submitted to the journal was expanded to 18, ranging from basic research to innovations in the field. The journal has a peer review board made up of highly recognized Cuban and international specialists in their fields. It receives articles from researchers, doctoral and master's students, and specialists related to Plant Health from Cuba and other countries.
